Terrigal Surf Life Saving (TSLSC) 2025-2026 Course Information

 

Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) – minimum 13 years of age
This 3-week course will be held Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings (after nippers) starting Tuesday 30th September 2025 to 19th October 2025
Tuesday sessions 6.30 – 8.30pm at Terrigal Beach Clubhouse
Sunday sessions 10am – 12.30pm at Terrigal Beach
SRC provides participants with the skills and knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness to be able to participate in lifesaving operations.

All participants must be able to complete a proficiency swim 200 metres in 5 minutes.

The next SRC course will commence on 3rd February 2026.

 

SRC transition to Bronze Medallion – minimum age 15 years of age.
This 2-week course will be held Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings (after nippers) starting Tuesday 21st October 2025 – 2nd November 2025.
Tuesday sessions 6.30 – 8.30pm at Terrigal Beach Clubhouse
Sunday sessions 10am – 12.30pm at Terrigal Beach
SRC to BM transition recognises that members will have completed around half of the Bronze Medallion (BM).
The transition pathway is available for SRC holders who have completed their SRC within 3 years prior to commencing the BM.
The SRC to BM transition provides participants with the skills and knowledge related to surf awareness, aquatic rescue operations, radio operations, resuscitation, emergency care, spinal management, communication, teamwork and Surf Life Saving patrol operations. This award builds upon the SLSA SRC and is the prerequisite award for many other SLS pathway awards.

All participants must be able to complete a proficiency swim 400 metres in 9 minutes, and evidence must be provided prior to the commencement of the assessment for this qualification.

The next SRC to BM transition will commence on 24th February 2026.

 

Bronze Medallion (BM) – minimum 15 years of age
This 5-week course will be held Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings (after nippers) starting Tuesday 30th September 2025 2nd November.
Tuesday sessions 6.30 – 8.30pm at Terrigal Beach Clubhouse
Sunday sessions 10am – 12.30pm at Terrigal Beach
BM provides participants with the skills and knowledge related to surf awareness, aquatic rescue operations, radio operations, resuscitation, emergency care, spinal management, communication, teamwork and Surf Life Saving patrol operations. Advanced Resuscitation Techniques (ART) Course – minimum 15 years of age and hold current First Aid Certificate.
This 2-week course will be held Tuesday evenings on the 11th and 18th November 2025 at the Terrigal Beach Clubhouse.
The ART course is to develop skills and knowledge to use oxygen, airway management devises and automated external defibrillators during resuscitation, as well as the administration of oxygen to conscious and unconscious victims.

 

Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) Crew Course – minimum Bronze Medallion
The IRB Crew course commences on Sunday 9th November 8am – 11am at Terrigal Surf Club
This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively crew an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in rescue operations. Weather conditions and enrolment numbers dependent.
The next IRB Crew course will commence on 15th March 2026.

 

Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) Drivers Course – minimum IRB Crew Course
The IRB Drivers course commences on Sunday 23rd November 8am – 11am at Terrigal Surf Club
This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively drive an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in rescue operations. Weather conditions and enrolment numbers dependent.
The next IRB Drivers course will commence on 29th March 2026.
